Multiple assembly strategies for silica aerogel-fiber combinations – A review

چکیده
• Comprehensive review of all approaches used to assemble aerogel-fiber materials. “In situ sol-gel” and “via pre-formed aerogel” are described evaluated. Enhanced mechanical/physical properties obtained while keeping low thermal conductivity. An overview the market future research trends identified. Silica aerogels have a unique structure that makes them promising materials for variable applications. However, they brittle due weak inter-particle necks, also expensive. Combining aerogel with fibers can not only enhance mechanical/insulation properties, but reduce dust release, ease practical application. The majority articles in this field been on aerogel/textile systems' application or textile impregnation silica sol utilizing sol–gel technique, few papers addressing use as filler.
